Lake George 2012 Opener
Our Div. 9 Lake George Spring Opener was held this Saturday, 4/21/2012. Membership/Registration for tournament was conducted 1st. thing in a.m. by Stan Zatorski/President of Anglers-Dream. I would like to thank Stan for coming out and helping with this on 1st. tourney since I am a lone Director now. Thats right. I am fishing alone. My son got a new job at Arcelor/Mittal in Burns Harbor and he has to work on all our tourneys. I am proud to be his father. He has been with me for 3 years as Co-Director and was a great asset to me at Lk. George and Anglers-Dream. I will miss him. Thanks Tim for all your hard work. You will be missed by all.

The tournament started out cold and windy with colder than normal water temps because of the front that had moved in. We had 19 teams fishing. Congratulations to all especially the team of Andy Cibak and Drew Cibak for a 1st. Place finish with only 4 bass that bested the tough team of Rongers and Barnett by only .10 of a pound. Rongers and Barnett had the only limit of the tournament with 5 fish for 10.27. Mike Bowman captured Big Bass with a 3.80# Brute for the tournament.

I would like to personally thank George Powell for coming out early and giving me a hand with set-up of tournament. George is being deployed to Israel for a while. He has had tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please keep George in thoughts and prayers for it is people like him that allow us to enjoy what we do in this country.

I also would like to thank the fine sponsors I have for the great prizes that were given out to all teams as door prizes. They are Mega-Strike, Bass Pro Shops, Poor-Boys Baits, BTS (Bow to Stern) and KVD Line & Lure conditioner. These fine sponsors contribute alot to My Divisions each year and I would like for our members to visit their sites and patronize them. Again thank you to all the sponsors.

A big thank you goes out to Mike Myers, Sr. and Ron Myers , Dan Marcolini. Sr. and Jr. and Rob Rongers and Darryl Barnett for all the help at the tournament to make it what it was, Very enjoyable.

From the Director:

Well the 2nd tournament of the year at Lake George Div. 9 Hobart, Indiana is done and in the books as 1 of the hardest days of fishing that most of the teams have ever experienced.

Most teams were frustrated with the condition of the water and the finicky bass that seemed to elude them, although a few teams figured them out and came out on top.

It was a close finish for the top 3 teams for the day. The ever popular team of Rongers and Barnet had it going with a limit of fish for a small wt. of 7.90lb. except they had 1 fish that didnt survive for a penalty of .50lb. for a total wt. of 7.40lb. adjusted net.

Then came in the team from Lafayette of Vance and Harmon for a wt. with 4 fish of 7.58lb which looked like they would take home the winners share.

Finally, the team of Damarrell and Baacke brought 5 fish to the scales that weighed 8.90 lbs. and showed why they are one of the toughest teams to beat on Lk. George. Jake and Greg also had the big bass. A 2.77lb brute.

Congratulations to Jake & Greg on an outstanding job and your win.

As I said Rongers and Barnett took 3rd. and Vance & Harmon took 2nd. Congrats. fellows. Good job.

Thank you for the fine work of WJOB Radio crew who came out and did and extraordinary job of Video for registration, early a.m. launch, on-the-water and off-the-water interviews and video of alot of the teams competing, as well as a great interview with Damarell and Baacke after the weigh-in ceremonies were complete on the how-to's to win at Lk. George and their tactics for catchig their limit.

A special thanks to my great friend, Pat Renwick with his crew of Dennis, Bobby, and Kyle for the hard work put in to make this tournament a very enjoyable day for the competitors and spectators.
